#GuildChat for 01/10/20: Learning Data, Analytics and Insights

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, January 10th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. This week’s chat is on Learning Data, Analytics and Insights

The data craze isn’t going away. As businesses work to collect more and more to improve efficiencies and understand consumer behavior, L&D is also being asked to look deeper into their offerings and the impact they are having.

Data collection, analysis and insights can be a heavy topic, can be time-consuming and strain resources adding to costs. And yet we can all agree that without solid data and the ability to recognize patterns to make decisions we fly blind leaving our work open to skepticism and criticism.

Join us this week on #GuildChat as we look at all three; data, analytics and insights to better understand what we do and could do better or different to impact organizational learning.

Prospective questions:

Q1 What kinds of data are you easily able to collect today on your learners and/or learning solutions?
Q2. What data would you like to be collecting and why? What’s preventing you from doing so?
Q3. What kind of data could you collect that would give you insights about engagement? [loaded question by design ;) ]
Q4. Some of the arguments against data collection include that the process can be time consuming, resource intensive, and only “confirm what we already know.” How valid is this and are their ways to find compromise?
Q5. What are some low tech data collection approaches that are underutilized today?
Q6. How can we best respond to and mitigate privacy concerns around data collection?
Q7. What insights could wearable technology provide L&D in your workplace?
Q8. When have new or deeper data insights surprised you? What happened and what did you learn?
Q9. If someone works for an organization that’s isn’t currently great at collecting and analyzing data related to L&D, what are some things they can do to help raise the bar?
