#GuildChat for 01/19/18: L&D Origin Stories

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, January 19 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is L&D Origin Stories.GuildChat_Logo

At the end of each chat we invite the community to offer up suggestions for future topics and last week we got several!

Mike Simmons, a regular GuildChatter and co-founder of Catalyst Sale (who will also be presenting a workshop at Learning Solutions in March) thought we should talk about where learning professionals come from and how they develop. We thought this presented as a good discussion opportunity for you to share how you came to L&D, how you grow in the field, and what steps you’re taking into the future.

With Mike’s help we’re developing this weeks chat, so plan to join us this Friday, January 19th to share your stories from beginning to now and maybe help fledgling L&D professionals learn what to do and what not.

Prospective questions:

Q1 What was the catalyst to begin your move into L&D

Q2 Were you in a different field prior? If yes, how has it influenced you in L&D?

Q3 What, if any, was your formal learning approach to growing in L&D?

Q4 Did you have an informal approach to your development? Share.

Q5 If you weren’t in L&D what would you like to (or likely) be doing today?

Q6 How has your role or interests changed over your career? What has made this happen?

Q7 Knowing what you know now, what do you wish you would have known when you first started in L&D?

Q8 What advice would you give someone interested in working in L&D?

Q9 How can we help develop the next generation (or current generation) of L&D professionals?

Missed this GuildChat? Don’t worry – you can still read through what happened on our Storify of the chat!
