#GuildChat for 01/07/22: Your L&D Origin Stories

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, January 7 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is Your L&D Origin Stories.GuildChat_Logo

It’s a new year and for many, a new you! In the past 2 years many have found themselves at a career crossroads, by choice or by circumstance. In L&D, we’ve been seeing a movement of people into the learning industry from other areas such as public education.

We felt it would be interesting to revisit a #GuildChat from 2018 in light of recent changes. So in this always open conversation about L&D, we ask the community to join in and share their stories of how they got here, what happened along the path. What they wish they had known prior to taking this direction and what they have learned along the way. Below are the questions we look to ask… in case you wanted to ponder in advance.

Prospective questions:

Q1 What was the catalyst to begin your move into L&D

Q2 Were you in a different field prior? If yes, how has it influenced you in L&D?

Q3 What, if any, was your formal learning approach to growing in L&D?

Q4 Did you have an informal approach to your development? Share.

Q5 If you weren’t in L&D what would you like to (or likely) be doing today?

Q6 How has your role or interests changed over your career? What has made this happen?

Q7 Knowing what you know now, what do you wish you would have known when you first started in L&D?

Q8 What advice would you give someone interested in working in L&D?

Q9 How can we help develop the next generation (or current generation) of L&D professionals?
