#GuildChat for 10/05/18: Getting Out of a Rut

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, October 5th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is on Getting Out of a Rut.

It happens to the best of us and for some a lot longer than we’d like – the rut. It can be a downturn in productivity or in creativity or the dreaded career rut where we question the very direction we are going.

In this week’s #GuildChat we explore the nature of being in a rut, how did we get here and how do we get out. Check out  this Psychology Today article where the author identifies some signs you’re stuck in the “mud” and some ideas on how to get moving forward.

Join us this Friday, October 5th, and share with the community your stories and advice about working through the downturns in work and in our careers.

Prospective questions:

Q1. What conditions are common to being in a rut?
Q2. When was the last time you were in a rut? What do you think caused it?
Q3. If you’re headed towards a creative downturn what can you do to turn it around if anything?
Q4. What are some things you can do to re-energize your ideas/approaches so you can get out of ruts?
Q5. How do you tell the difference between when you need to change your approach because you’re stuck in a rut and when you should keep to your current plan and push through?
Q6. How do the conditions of being in a rut affect people in a group or community?
Q7. What about career ruts? If you aren’t in a position to move on, how can you make what you’re doing now more meaningful?
Q8. If you saw a colleague or friend get stuck in a rut, what advice would you give them?
