#GuildChat for 11/10/17: Supporting Informal Learning

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, November 10th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is on Supporting Informal Learning.GuildChat_Logo

We were inspired by a recent Twitter “debate” on the topic of 70:20:10 (the organizational learning principle).  There is much discussion about the relevance of such things as social and informal learning and the impact on formal learning (i.e. training).

For this week’s #GuildChat we thought we’d delve into the informal learning space. What is it and more importantly what does it look like in an organization? And maybe MOST importantly how can learning professionals best support it or should they?

Join us Friday as we take a closer look at informal learning and its role in organizational learning!

 Prospective questions:

Q1. What does informal learning in an organization look like?
Q2. What kinds of informal learning experiences have you had in your own career?
Q3. Do people need to approach informal learning experiences differently than formal ones to get the most out of them?
Q4. What is the relationship between social and informal learning?
Q5. Informal and formal learning experiences can work together. What are some good ways to blend them?
Q6. What should be the role of L&D with regard to informal learning?
Q7. Should informal learning experiences be tracked? Why or why not?
Q8. What tools/platforms can help support informal learning?
