Motivation to learn is ultimately owned by the learner themselves however learning professionals can do much in the way of reducing motivational barriers and designing solutions to help increase and maintain motivation throughout the experience.

Join us this week as we turn to the learning community to share their ideas, insights and experience in helping learners maintain motivation to improve performance.

Q1. Can we ever lose motivation to learn? Why or why not?
Q2. What are the biggest factors that reduce motivation for organizational learning?
Q3. How do you anticipate/mitigate motivational problems when designing a learning solution?
Q4. How can you keep people’s motivation going when they’re learning about something that’s particularly difficult or long?
Q5. What do you think can increase a person’s motivation to learn about something they’re dreading (ex: compliance training)?
Q6. Freedom to fail is a good way to learn, but too much failure can be demotivating. How can you find a good balance?
Q7. How can extrinsic rewards for learning help motivate someone? Are there any downsides to this approach?
Q8. What role can leadership play in helping employees stay motivated to learn?
