#GuildChat for 9/29/17: What Can L&D and Academia Learn From Each Other?

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, September 29th at 11AM PT/2PM ET. This week’s topic is What Can L&D and Academia Learn From Each Other?

Learning, training, and schooling are forever linked. They share some core elements of course but the differences in the learner, purpose and approach can be very different.

In this week’s GuildChat we look at what L&D with it’s emphasis on performance improvement can bring to improve education and how education can offer ideas to influence how L&D approaches it’s efforts in training and supporting workers. What are those techniques, tools and strategies that should be embraced and which should be jettisoned.

Join us this Friday as we compare and contrast L&D and the academic world!

Prospective questions:

Q What were the best parts of your formal education? How can organizational learning leverage this?
Q Not everyone’s experience with school was positive. What does that tell us about what L&D should avoid doing?
Q What is one of the best assignments you ever did in school? How could that translate into an L&D setting?
Q A Hidden Curriculum is the unwritten, unofficial, and often unintended learning in school, what is the Hidden Curriculum of org learning?
Q L&D often uses learning technology in different ways from schools. What tech tips should they borrow from us?
Q What ways can we in L&D find out more about what innovations and ideas are happening in academia?
Q If you’re in L&D what advice would you give public education about how to improve? Why?
