It could be a small element in an elearning module or a large component of an organizational program but sooner or later you are going to receive a request that, to you, could derail the effort.

When the suggestion or even the insistence comes, your ability to navigate it depends on many factors; your level of belief in the current decision/direction, the degree of insistence, your relationship to the requester, and past history to name a few. Sometimes the suggestions have merit, other times they defy logic but how you address each can set the tone for your effort, your relationship and your work for years to come.

Join us this week as the community shares their approaches to pushing back with stakeholders to ensure the project or program meets the intended goals you set out to achieve

Prospective questions:

Q1. What types of requests do you find you push back on most as a eLearning professional?
Q2. What approaches to pushing back do you find work the best?
Q3. Picking your battles is important. How do you know when to push back and when to let something go?
Q4. Do you approach push back the same way regardless of the individual (peer or leader)? why or why not?
Q5. Have you ever pushed back and had it go poorly? What happened?
Q6. What things can accidentally sabotage your efforts when you’re trying to push back?
Q7. What do you do when your advice is rejected, but you still have serious concerns?
Q8. How can you keep pushing back on a partner’s request from having a negative impact on your working relationship?
