#GuildChat for 10/09/15: Post Event Learning and Application

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, October 9 at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is Post Event Learning and Application.

Right on the heals of the eLearning Guild’s marque event, DevLearn, we thought it would be a good time to see how people learn and apply after a learning event (conferences, workshops, training, or elearning).2015-01-09_11-14-16

Large learning events such as all day workshops or week long conference can flood one with new ideas and approaches. Some have argued that without sufficient prompts, practice or time for reflection much of what was gained is lost shortly after these events.  Even smaller events can have their impact stunted if people don’t plan for and employ strategies to better ensure learning sticks.

In this week’s GuildChat we reflect on post event learning strategy and methods to better retain what was learned. We’ll look for the community to share their pre, during, and post event activities that are used to process new learning, create meaning, and lead to effective application on the job.
