What I Love About #DevLearn: Phil Cowcill

To help celebrate the 10th Annual DevLearn Conference and Expo, we’ve invited members of the Guild community to share what they love about DevLearn, and why they return to the conference year after year.

PhilToday we welcome Phil Cowcill, Coordinator of Mobile Application Development at Canadore College, as he shares his thoughts about the conference.

There are several reasons why I love DevLearn and highly recommend this as the conference to go to. First, it’s geared towards people who need to develop solutions in a wide variety of applications. It’s not just about LMS or LCMS or other systems. The conference is also much more than about a particular set of tools. It’s more about using a variety of tools to provide you with solutions. You are also going to connect with a vast array of people and resources that will help you create your material with these tools.

Secondly, there’s an excitement and high energy buzz around the DevLearn conference. You’ll leave tired because you’ve attended some top notch sessions, network with industry professionals from around the world and also socialized with these professionals after hours. It’s the connections that make DevLearn unforgettable.

My final point is about the people at DevLearn. Some of the most brilliant developers and vendors from around the world will be at DevLearn. Just recently, an international vendor released a new package and I had a question about their newest release. I was able to connect with the product manager directly and ask her questions about their newest release. I would not have been able get that information so quickly had I not met her and connected with her at DevLearn.

If you go to the DevLearn conference and engage with the speakers and network with other attendees, you’ll come away with a much richer experience and something that will last a long time.
