#GuildChat for 03/05/21: Clarifying L&D for Others
Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, March 5th at 11AM PT/2PM ET. This week’s topic is Clarifying L&D for Others.
From family members who mistakenly think we work in IT to work partners who think our job is just to turn PowerPoint decks into eLearning files, people outside of L&D don’t always have a good sense of what roles in L&D actually do. And while it can be mildly annoying when your great aunt thinks you teach small children and not adults, it can have a real impact on careers when a business partner you’re working with doesn’t understand what expertise you’re bringing to the table or when a L&D job posting covers substantially more than a single person can do on their own.
In this week’s #GuildChat we’ll talk about the challenges that come from misunderstandings about our roles and share ideas for what we can do – both as individuals and a professional community – to help others understand what we do (and don’t) do in our work.
