#GuildChat for 12/6/19: The Fundamentals of eLearning

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, December 6th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. This week’s chat is on The Fundamentals of eLearning.

As we head into the final Online Conference of 2019, eLearning Foundations, on December 11-12th we thought we’d touch on that topic some for this week’s chat.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’re a savvy veteran of your craft, having a grounding in some of the fundamentals of design, UX, visual use and tools is critical to set the course of your course or ensure you stay true to good development for your end-user.

Join us this week as we explore some of the more critical questions around creating effective elearning. There’s something for everyone this week. If you’re a newbie, come learn from the experts in the community and if you’re one of the experts, here’s your chance to give back to the community at large.

Prospective questions:

Q1 eLearning can come in all sorts of digital formats. How does the medium you choose impact how well you’re able to impact performance and meet your goals for a project?
Q2 What, in your opinion, is the biggest reason an eLearning course will fail to meet performance needs?
Q3 What storytelling techniques can make your eLearning more effective and/or more interesting to your audience?
Q4 Do you use storyboarding in your work? If so, why do you find it useful? If not, what about storyboarding isn’t a fit for you or your work?
Q5 What are some easy visual design approaches or resources that can help in our work?
Q6 We often talk about not wanting to add interactivity for the sake of it. What are some ways you’ve seen interactivity in eLearning actually enhance the content?
Q7 “Don’t make your users think” is a common catchphrase when it comes to user experience (UX). What can we do when designing and developing eLearning to simplify things for our audience and reduce cognitive overload?
Q8 Easy multiple-choice tests are rather common assessment approaches. If you want to push the boundaries on what assessment can be and how accurate it is, what are some alternative forms it can take?
