#GuildChat for 7/19/19: Supporting a Challenging Workforce

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, July 19th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. Our topic for this week’s chat is on Supporting a Challenging Workforce.

We all have challenges, heck L&D is about solving problems in the organization so the workforce can perform better. But what if the workforce you support IS the challenge?

Join us this Friday as we explore the different types of workforce challenges we can face from supporting floor salespeople, deskless workforces, those in hazardous conditions and those that just don’t want to use technology, even when you know it would serve them best! Learn from your experienced peers the different approaches and techniques they have used to overcome the barriers found in the workers, the work setting and the work itself.

Prospective questions

Q1 What are some of the unique training and performance support challenges with reaching audiences in high turnover roles? How can we address them?
Q2 What can you do when the content you need to share with your audience is constantly changing?
Q3 What if the challenge with reaching your audience is they don’t trust L&D content or you/your team to give them what they need? How do you repair that relationship?
Q4 It’s easy to think that a mobile workforce can be supported just by mobile devices today. Is it that simple? What are other considerations?
Q5 Sometimes the solution requires technology be used by the learner but the employees are technology averse. What are some strategies to overcome this?
Q6 What are ways you or your organization can help people in sales roles (where every missed moment is missed income) not resent training?
Q7 1-on-1 coaching can be the most effective way to teach some complex skills but is time-consuming and hard to scale. What are some 2nd choice alternatives that can still lead to results?
Q8 How do you reach an audience that’s checked out – who doesn’t think there’s anything new they need to know or is killing time until retirement?
Q9 What should you keep in mind when designing learning experiences for people whose industry or company is going through major changes? (acquisitions, re-organization, layoffs).
