#GuildChat for 09/1/17: The State of Gamification Today

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, September 1st at 11AM PT/2PM ET. This week’s topic is on the State of Gamification Today.

In this week’s #GuildChat we revisit gamification efforts and technologies. Gamification has been a buzzword for quite some time, but has it inched into the trough of disillusionment? Are organizations buying in and what impacts have been seen? We’ll examine where we as an industry stand today and find out where is gamification is being used and where is it useful for learning.

Join us as we discuss the state of gamification in L&D this week in #GuildChat.

Prospective questions:

Q1. When or where have you seen gamification (not games) most effective for learning?
Q2. Where do you think L&D has made missteps with the idea of gamification?
Q3. Complete this statement: Before considering gamification, you should ________.
Q4. Why do so many L&D gamification efforts focus on just points, badges, & leaderboards instead of more complex options?
Q5. Why is knowing your audience particularly important to creating gamified experiences?
Q6. Do you need to deeply understand games to design a successful gamified experience? Why or why not?
Q7. What tools/technologies have you seen aid in successful gamification approaches?
Q8. Passing fad or here to stay – What do you foresee as the future of gamification in L&D?
