As we head into Learning Solutions next week we wanted one last look at the theme of “Sharing What Works.”

Much of our work as learning professionals is informed by the work of others. Experts in Cognitive sciences, psychology and even Sociology have given much to our understanding of organizations and individuals. We use this information to varying degrees and with varying degrees of success along the way. How much of our knowledge of theories do we (and can we) put into our practices? What has been shown to work best and why? What do we learn from our own approaches and how do we make sense of it?

Join us this week as we look at the theories that inform our practices and learn what others are doing, what works and why?

Prospective question:

Q1. We’ve got a lot of theories and best practices in L&D. What’s one that you’ve found helpful in the real world?
Q2. What popular learning theory have you been disappointed to find doesn’t work for you or your situation?
Q3. Why do you think some theories just don’t work as expected in the real world?
Q4. If you try out a theory and it doesn’t work as expected, what should you do?
Q5. When you have your own idea, what is the process you go through to determine if it’s actually viable?
Q6. Where do your best ideas come from?
Q7. After implementing a solution do you share the process or “lessons learned”? If so how?
Q8. When someone shares a best practice what do you look for/inquire about to truly understand it’s value?
