#GuildChat for 12/02/16: Lies In Learning

Our next #GuildChat takes place Friday, December 2nd at 11AM PT/2PM ET. This week’s topic is Lies in Learning

The hot word of the day is “Post-Truth.” Some have used this term to describe the political and social climate of our times; filled with lies, propaganda and emotion over logic. This week GuildChat stretches this a idea a bit to look at lies in learning. For the sake of our discussion we will lump in there half-truths, misconceptions and exaggerations that happen in and around our field. Why do they persist? What is the emotional attachment to certain misconceptions? How has the learning community used and misused these and what can we do about it?

Join us this week for a spirited discussion about those misinformed ideas and opinions that pervade our work but also how small (white) lies can possibly be beneficial.
