New at #DevLearn: Session Trailers

How many times have you had little to no interest in a movie, but then completely changed your mind once you saw a trailer for it? Sure, text summaries can give you the gist of what a movie is about, but there’s something about actually getting a short glimpse at the full experience that can often give you an even better idea of if it’s right for you.

So, in the spirit of taking inspiration from outside our field, this year for DevLearn we’re encouraging our speakers to create session trailers: short videos that give you a sneak peek at what you can expect from the sessions. It’s a great way for you to get a bit more information about what each session is going to cover and to get a sense of what the speaker is like too.

Session trailers are something many speakers have been creating independently for some time now, but for DevLearn we’re doing two things to make these videos easier to find and share.

Trailer - Website

First, we’re embedding trailers directly into the session descriptions on the conference website. If a trailer is available, you’ll be able to find it without having to do any extra work to track it down.

Trailer - YouTube

Second, we’re also compiling a YouTube playlist of every trailer we receive. If you’d like to browse DevLearn sessions through video instead of text, this is a great option for doing that.

We’ve already got a number of session trailers so far and we’re looking forward to adding even more as they come in.
