How a Conference Experience Starts Before the Conference Begins #LSCon

Conferences are one of my favorite ways to learn. In a few short days, I’ll be headed to Orlando for one of my favorite conferences of the year: The Learning Solutions Conference & Expo.

One of the reasons people love Learning Solutions (and eLearning Guild Conferences in general) is that the conference experience extends well beyond the constraints of the event itself. The Learning Solutions Conference and Expo experience actually starts well before the conference begins, and it’s these pre-conference activities that can set the stage for an even more incredible experience during the conference.

In this post I want to share some of the incredibly valuable activities you can take advantage of in advance of the Learning Solutions Conference (or any conference for that matter) that will help you get more out of attending.

The Backchannel

Even though the conference has yet to start, the #LSCon hashtag is already be active with people tweeting about the conference, sharing what they are looking to learn and connecting with each other. In addition to being a great source of learning before the conference, these virtual connections made online can help jump start in-person networking once the conference starts.

New to the backchannel? I’ll be sharing a post later this week that explains what it is and how you can participate.

The eLearning Guild has always led the industry when it comes to the functionality available through it’s conference app, and this year’s app is shaping up to be the best one yet. The app features a robust social feed that people can share and connect through, and it’s already active with people sharing and connecting with each other.

You can download the Learning Solutions app in the Apple or Google App stores, or by visiting the app page on the conference website.

Blogs and Articles

Many individuals and vendors to write blog posts and articles detailing what they are looking forward to at the conference. These posts can help you build your own agenda for the event, and they help put you into the best mindset to learn more from the conference.

Tip: I curate posts like these throughout the conference on my personal blog

Start Your Conference Experience Early

Starting your conference experience early is a great way to get more out of the overall experience. In the case of Learning Solutions, there are a number of different ways to connect and learn from other members of the Guild Community, and I highly recommend that you take advantage of them to get even more out of what’s shaping up to be the biggest and best Learning Solutions Conference and Expo yet.
