What I Love About #DevLearn: Andrew Hughes

To help celebrate the 10th Annual DevLearn Conference and Expo, we’ve invited members of the Guild community to share what they love about DevLearn, and why they return to the conference year after year.

HughesToday we welcome Andrew Hughes, President of Designing Digitally, Inc, as he shares his thoughts about the conference.

As a professor, former developer, and now president of Designing Digitally, Inc., I find this conference to be beneficial for all involved in training. This will be my fifth year at DevLearn, and every single year I find myself walking away with so many exciting thoughts for future learning approaches. I find many of the breakout sessions and keynotes to be not only inspiring, but thoughtful and problem solving.

While this conference caters to developers, I find that many of the speakers talk about topics outside of just development – including issues such as assessing ability, process, trends in the industry, creative ways of solving pain points, and even expressing how instructional design plays into the development of each and every project.

One of the most exciting aspects to me is the opportunity to have such great intellectual conversations with people around the industry, who have now become friends. The communication between like-minded people who face the same obstacles our company faces gives us a sense of comradery in being able to collaborate and solve problems together.

I think at that one of the best additions to DevLearn is DemoFest! This social demonstration of some the best and most polished pieces of work I’ve seen in our industry allows you the participant to judge the projects that have been submitted to this contest and to express what you really feel is innovative through your votes.

If you would like to nerd it out with me I will be in booth number 313 so please stop by and come tell me what innovative things you’ve done to help solve the problems in your organization! Remember sharing is caring, and DevLearn is the perfect platform to do so.
