What Will Learning Look Like in 2024?

This year the DevLearn Conference and Expo turns 10 years old. As we’ve been preparing for this year’s conference, it’s been fun to look back at the last decade and see how the conference, technology, and our industry, has evolved over time. There have been tremendous advancements in the tools and techniques we use to design, develop, facilitate, and manage learning and performance programs.

DevLearn has always been ahead of the curve, leading conversations that help with the work you’re doing today, while preparing you for the work you’ll need to do tomorrow.

So much has changed in the last decade. Take mobile technology as an example. This technology has radically changed the way we live each day, and we’re really only just starting to tap into it’s potential to change the ways we help people learn and perform better. And that’s only one of a number of technological evolutions we’ve seen in the last 10 years.

DL14_600While it’s fun to look at where we have been, DevLearn is about looking forward. With that in mind, I’d like to invite the eLearning Guild Community to join us in gazing into the future and pondering what learning might look like 10 years from now, in the year 2024.

Learning in 2024

The speed in which technology is advancing seems to only be increasing. There’s a high likelihood that the advancements made in the next decade will dwarf the advancements we’ve seen in the last ten years. The possibilities technology makes available for innovative approaches to learning and performance support will only expand in the future.

Will wearable technology change the game? Speaking of games, will game elements, badges, and other gamification techniques shift our approaches to learning ? Will better options for data and analytics change our understanding of how we look at learning and performance support in the first place?

The future is full of promise and possibilities, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on what learning and performance support looks like in the year 2024. We invite you to share your thoughts and predictions about what the future holds, and share them with the Guild Community via social media.

Here are a few examples of how you can share your predictions:

  • Write a blog post
  • Post a tweet
  • Post a comment to this blog
  • Share your thoughts on facebook
  • Share pictures on Twitter, facebook, Instagram, Google+, or Pinterest

These are only a few suggestions, but we’d love for people to be creative and have fun with this. Feel free to use any technique you’d like to share your predictions. When you do, just make sure you add the the hashtag #LRN2024 to your messages. We’ll be using this hashtag as a gathering place for all of the ideas.

You can also share your thoughts directly to the Guild community by using (or tagging) the Guild’s dedicated social media accounts on Twitter, facebook, Instagram, and Google+.

To kick-start the conversation we’ll be holding a one-time Twitter Chat on Friday September 5th at 11am PT / 2pm ET. We’ll use the hashtag #LRN2024 and spend an hour exploring the possibilities for learning and performance support in the future.

Share Predictions Using #LRN2024

So have some fun with it, and share your predictions. And who knows, maybe your prediction will be shared at the 10th Annual DevLearn Conference and Expo this October.
