What I Love About #DevLearn: Clark Quinn

Quinn_ClarkTo help celebrate the 10th Annual DevLearn Conference and Expo, we’ve invited members of the Guild community to share what they love about DevLearn, and why they return to the conference year after year.

Today we welcome Clark Quinn, Executive Director of Quinnovation and one of our Guild Masters as he shares his thoughts about the DevLearn.

I’ve been going to DevLearn since at least 2006, and other Guild events before that.  And I keep coming back.  Why? Because I get real value.

I usually speak; as an independent consultant, it is how I’ve marketed myself.  There are a number of benefits.  First, the Guild makes it good for speakers, vetting your proposals, even working with you to find topics and descriptions that work.  They have good practices on promoting the event, and getting you feedback, too. And the relationships they offer are mutually beneficial.

CaptureThe audiences are, for me, the right ones too.  The event is focused on the right topic, too, and so you get people who are interested in eLearning, ready to hear new outcomes and thoughts. This means that when I am also an audience member, I find a great selection of topics.  I’ve been around eLearning for over 30 years now (yes, you heard that right), and DevLearn is the place to hear about the latest and greatest.  The Guild is very good about not only having a spread that covers beginners to advanced, but also keeping their finger on the latest that you should be hearing about.

The networking is tops, too.  This is where I connect with those who are similarly passionate about eLearning.  Some of my closest friends show up and we reconnect at DevLearn.  The Guild’s approach makes a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, including social events that let me connect with friends, familiar colleagues, and new folks.

A great atmosphere, bringing the right topics and people together, and more. This is why DevLearn has been one of my favorite events, one of my must events of the year. I hope to meet you at the next one!
